Agent / Broker of Record

What is an AOR or BOR?

An Agent of Record or Broker of Record letter is commonly used to authorize an insurance agent or broker to represent an insured with a carrier. The exact process and effect can vary by carrier and situation.

Changing Representation

You may not always need to rebuild everything from zero.

A business may consider an AOR/BOR when it wants different representation, communication, service, or renewal strategy while an existing insurance program is in place.

Important to understand

An AOR/BOR changes representation when accepted under the applicable carrier/process; it does not by itself guarantee new coverage, lower premium, broader terms, or carrier acceptance. Carrier procedures can vary.
